It is indeed a shameful moment for the entire nation. The 23-year-old girl, who was gang-raped and brutally assaulted in Delhi last week, died on Saturday morning at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. After putting up a brave battle for life, a swollen brain and Cerebal edema got better of her fighting spirit.
"She was courageous in fighting for her life for so long against the odds but the trauma to her body was too severe for her to overcome," Dr Kelvin Loh, CEO of the hospital said.
We express our deep condolence for the victim's family and friends.
Galatta joins the entire nation in expressing disgust at this horrible act of cruelty. Like many, we too believe that what this country needs is and a firm, swift action policy against such criminals; as well as a sweep of awareness and education campaigns across the country.
