Darshan upset over KFCC not honoring his father

Nearly a month after the Amrutha Mahotsavaended, several actors including Darshan have come forward accusing the KFCC offailing to honour somefamous film personalities. Darshan and five other artists and technicians are upset that the contributions of their late fathers have not been considered by the KFCC as worth honouring. KFCC honoured 75 luminaries at Amrutha Mahotsava butoverlooked artists like late Toogudeepa Srinivas, N.S. Rao, Sudhir, Sundarakrishna Urs, Dinesh and Musari Krishnamurthy.

Speaking to the media, Darshan saidhe had personally met KFCC president Jayamala in advance and requested her to include these artists in the list. "Jayamala chose to speak casually on the matter. Instead of providing an explanation for not bringing out books on the life and achievements of these noted artists, she even warned some of my friends that their careers would be in jeopardy," he added.

Now, Jayamala has come up with her own version of the story, sayingthe omissions were not deliberate. "I cannot be held responsible for the selection of personalities as a separate committee was involved in the process. The artists have been severely critical of me. I have acted and interacted with their fathers. They were real life heroes off screen, but they only acted as villains on screen," she said.

Publisher Baragooru Ramachandrappa said that he could choose only 75 personalities and the likes of Toogudeepa Sreenivas and Sundara Krishna Urs had not been deliberately ignored.

Amrutha Mahotsva, the three day mega event, marked75 years of Kannada cinema.
