The Tamil Nadu Ministry for Health & Family Welfare had on Saturday in a press conference issued a statement saying Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation and that the TN government will follow his instructions regarding the ongoing lockdown. Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary K Shanmugam stated that PM Modi had earlier today held a video conference with the Chief Ministers of all states including Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi Palaniswami, who had suggested that emphasis needs to be laid on continuing the lockdown and that it shouldn't be regulated to specific Indian states, but the entire nation.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary K. Shanmugam also added that 58 people have tested positive for COVID-19 today with one person from Erode succumbing to death taking the total to 10 in the state. Furthermore, the number of people affected by the coronavirus in the state stands at 969 as of now. PM Modi has given advice to the Chief Ministers of all states to make the public aware of the Aarogya Setu mobile app to help in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Various quarantine and containment measure strategies have also been discussed including the affected areas housing the infected persons be differentiated into green, yellow and orange zones, to better identify and administer appropriate medical care.
TN CM Edappadi Palaniswami has also extended his gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu for adhering to the lockdown across the state and thanked them for their cooperation in such dire times. He has also praised staff from various government offices including the doctors, medical officials, health workers, police for their unfailing dedication.
