Gearing up for a big release on August 15 is the upcoming Jayam Ravi starrer, Comali, which has been directed by debutant director Pradeep Ranganathan. A comedy entertainer, the film has been embroiled in a major controversy after a scene in the film’s trailer received an angry reaction from ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth’s fans everywhere. In the trailer, we are shown that Jayam Ravi has woken up after being in a coma for 20 years and witnesses Rajinikanth’s  political entry speech in late 2017 in disbelief saying it is from 1996. The scene led to a massive outrage among the veteran actor’s fans after which director Pradeep Ranganathan and producer Dr. Ishar K. Ganesh earlier today issued a joint statement saying they will remove the scene in order to not offend anybody’s feelings or sentiments. Now, Jayam Ravi too has released a detailed two-page statement where he goes on to narrate Rajinikanth’s reaction to the Comali trailer, which has now become quite controversial.

Jayam Ravi has stated Rajinikanth had seen the trailer and “appreciated the team for the creative appeal and congratulated them for coming up with a unique idea,”. He then adding saying he has been “a hardcore ‘Superstar’ fan and has been eager and anxious as any other follower to see him embark on his political journey,”. Comali has been produced under the Vels Film International banner with music by Hiphop Tamizha and includes Kajal Aggarwal as the main female lead followed by Samyuktha Hegde, popular Kannada and Bollywood actress Kavita Radheshyam and comedian Yogi Babu in important supporting roles.
