One of the most interesting films coming out this year, Comali, starring Jayam Ravi, Kajal Aggarwal and Samyuktha Hegde in the lead roles had 9 posters released, which left many quite curious about the film. Debutante director Pradeep Ranganathan has now revealed that a huge special set had been recreated the 2015 flood situation in the Madipakkam area at Chennai, as it was one among the several worst affected regions in the city. He has stated that the entire sequence was canned over a period of three days with Jayam Ravi part of the shoot along with director turned actor KS Ravikumar and Vinodhini playing supporting roles. Art director Umesh, who had previously worked on Trisha Illana Nayanthara and Irumbu Thirai, had put up the set in A. R. Rahman’s studio as it had the biggest additional space with director Pradeep Ranganathan further adding they had to take extra precautions during filming considering shooting was being done in water with a lot of electrical equipment. Before heading in to shoot, the sequence was planned using 3D modelling after which a tank around 150 metres long was brought in two weeks ahead of the shooting.
Comali has been produced under Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh’s Vels Films International banner with music by Hiphop Tamizha and has been announced to hit screens on August 15. Excitement for the film is quite high especially after the 'Paisa Note' and 'Yaaru Comali' tracks turned out to be chartbusters. The film also includes popular Kannada and Bollywood actress Kavita Radheshyam in a supporting role and Yogi Babu taking care of the comedy.
