Chennai Marathon: Results

The Chennai Marathon – one of the grandest and noblest events of Chennai – went on smoothly on February 15th. About 17,000 people├п┬┐┬╜from different walks of life participated in this grand event, the proceeds of which is donated to charity organizations and used to sponsor talented sportspeople. Actor Srikanth flagged off this grand event at 6:30 a.m. at Anna Square. It was heartening to see so many people├п┬┐┬╜turning up for a cause; they came not to win the marathon and its prize money, but to├п┬┐┬╜contribute their bit to the society by participating in├п┬┐┬╜this noble event. But they left with wonderful gifts – a sense of satisfaction of having giving something back to├п┬┐┬╜society and awareness about jogging and its effect on health.

The main marathon was won by Army man Singhthon (Rajasthan), while the men’s half-marathon was won by Karnataka’s Ravikanth and the women’s half-marathon was won by Uttar Pradesh’s Sudha Singh. All of them are sportspersons who have been preparing for this marathon for long.

Through this event, SDAT has also created health awareness among the general public. Most of them were heard saying that events like these should be organized quite often to create a social bonding and spread goodwill!
