Birthday party delayed Kate
Kate Hudson arrived late at the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday. Her excuse? A post-school birthday party that she had planned for her son Ryder. And because she was late, Ellen DeGeneres replaced Kate to hand out the night’s first award at the Shrine Auditorium. However, Kate was at least present to receive the Favorite Leading Lady award later that night. And when she stepped on the dais to receive the honour, she went right ahead and wished her five-year-old son a Happy Birthday, besides thanking everyone who had helped her win the award. Backstage, however, Kate made it a point to apologize to the organizers for having shown up late, adding, "I'm one tired mum."
