Bijibal receives Mullassery Award

Young music director Bijibal received the Sixth Mullassery Music Award at a function in Kozhikode on Friday. Veteran actor Sreenivasan presented the award instituted in memory of Mullassery Raju, an ardent lover of music.

Jnanpith award-winner M.T. Vasudevan Nair chaired the function. Script writers T. Damodaran, Ranjith, directors V.M. Vinu, Lal Jose, Jayaraj, Padmakumar, Augustin, and N.B. Krishna Kurup were present.

The previous winners of the award include eminent music directors Johnson, Raveendran and Vidyasagar. It is one of the few awards in Kerala that recognizes the contribution of a composer to film music.

Bijibal shot to fame in 2007 through his compositions in Arabikatha directed by Lal Jose. Later, he has created music for many movies, including Nasrani, Minnaminnikoottam and Ayudham. He has also made his mark as a composer of background scores for films like Cycle and Rock N Roll.
