'Superstar' Rajinikanth has begun dubbing for the new scenes to be featured in the upcoming remastered version of his 2002 film, Baba, which is set to be re-released this year. Photos of the iconic actor from the dubbing studio showing him looking at scene papers and his dialogues have taken social media by storm, including one where he is seen later posing with the remastering team. Veteran Tamil filmmaker Suresh Krissna, who directed Baba nearly two decades back, is personally overseeing the remastering process, with reports stating it will be coming out on the occasion of his 72nd birthday on December 12. The music director of Baba, Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, has reportedly volunteered and requested the film's team for a preview of the new version to enhance the film's background score, if necessary. According to reports, the filmmakers had initially planned to release the film in a single theatre in Tamil Nadu for Rajinikanth's birthday. However, the response to the news of Baba's re-release has been received warmly, with social media abuzz with excitement among Rajinikanth's fans. The film, which was produced by Rajinikanth himself, was the actor’s reunion with director Suresh Krissna after the duo delivered box-office blockbusters like Annamalai, Veera, and Baasha

As for his next film, Rajinikanth is currently busy filming Jailer and his fourth association with the prestigious Sun Pictures banner after their previous collaborations namely Enthiran (2010), Petta (2019), and Annaatthe (2021). The film is being directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and has music by Anirudh Ravichander, with the supporting cast featuring Kannada superstar Dr. Shiva Rajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Taramani and Rocky fame Vasanth Ravi, comedian Yogi Babu, Malayalam actor Vinayagan, among others.
