'Thalapathy' Vijay's Varisu produced under Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner and directed by Vamshi Paidipally will open in cinemas worldwide for Pongal in January 2023. The upcoming film, which is coming out in Telugu under the title Vaarasudu, has been mired in controversy over the past few days after the Telugu Film Producers Council recently urged exhibitors to lay emphasis on straight Telugu films over the dubbed versions during festivals like Sankranti and Dussehra. Having said that, Dil Raju recently addressed the Varisu release issue in the Telugu states in a television interview and said that the film was planned to be presented in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages. The blockbuster Telugu film producer-distributor added that he had announced Varisu was going to be a Sankranthi/Pongal release right from the beginning.

During his television appearance, Dil Raju also stated that Vaarasudu will be getting good screens alongside other big Telugu releases that include 'Megastar' Chiranjeevi sir's Waltair Veerayya and Nandamuri Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy due to his long-standing relationship with theatre owners in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He also mentioned how the release date of Varisu was announced in May this year, with Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya and Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy revealed to be coming out in June and October, respectively. He cited how Mythri Movie makers (producers of both films) don't have an issue with him, while asking why others are creating an issue. Dil Raju's statements have given Vijay's fans much hope and the fact that Varisu will also be coming out in Hindi makes it his third consecutive release in the language after his Master came out as Vijay The Master, while Beast was presented as RAW

Varisu will see Vijay paired with Rashmika Mandanna and the duo's on-screen chemistry was recently witnessed for the first time with the release of the 'Ranjithame' song in the film, which has music composed by Thaman. S. The film will be released by Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studios banner in Tamil Nadu and the pre-release formalities are currently being finalized, with fans expecting a good number of screens in the state.
