Azhagi girl's journey!

We knowNanditaDas well through her sterling performance in Azhagi, directed by Thangar Bachan. Post Azhagi, she has come a long way, featuring in many more significant releases in Bollywood such as Fire and1947-Earth. Nandita is now riding high on the fame wave after the success of her directorial debut Firaaq.

Firaaq(Urdu wordmeaning separation and quest) revolves around the emotional battle of victims of natural calamities. The film is based on the 2002 Gujarat carnage; the experiences of the different main characters are woven together with a lead story. According to Nandita, it was the sorrow-filled stories of their losses that impelled her to make this film.

Nanditathoroughly enjoyed her directorial experiences that demanded quick decisions and knowledge of technical aspects. She feels a director's perspective shows there is a lot of effort and talent that goes into a film in addition to acting. She hasenjoyedmaking this filmwith stalwartsNaseeruddin Shah and Paresh Rawal, who after wrapping up Firaaq, expressed their wish to perform in her next film too. She says she will have to rest, re-energize her system and make up for the sleep lossbefore shebegins working on her next directorial venture.

All the very best, Nandita!
