Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap is someone who has a great admiration and love for Tamil films and he has always vouched for quality movies made here. Infact, Anurag had a thanks card dedicated to directors Bala, Sasikumar and Ameer in the beginning of his film, Gangs Of Wasseypur. Having said that, the acclaimed filmmaker took to his Twitter space to post a tweet which has now excited the fans. Anurag Kashyap tweeted saying that he found the first cut version of Vetri Maaran’s Vada Chennai in his library and this update has made the fans go crazy.

Vada Chennai was released amidst huge expectations and the film has a cult status among the Tamil audience who are waiting for the second part. It is a known fact that Vetri Maaran’s first cut of Vada Chennai was close to 4 hours of runtime and it was specially shown to a few important directors across the country. It looks like Anurag Kashyap still has the copy of it. Anurag Kashyap also added that he is searching for the uncut version of Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s debut film, Aaranya Kaandam which has a special fan base.

Anurag’s tweet read, “In cleaning up my library found an uncut avid dump of 150 minutes “No Smoking”, alternate cut of “Bombay Velvet”, extended “Black Friday” and clean subtitled “Paanch”. All dumped from Avid . And Paanch a beta dump. uff.. Also found “Videokaaran”, First Cut of @VetriMaaran’s “Vada Chennai” , subtitled “Subramaniapuram”.. uncensored french release of “Titli” and searching for the uncut “Aranya Kandam”.

Seeing this tweet, the fans are requesting director Vetri Maaran to release the first cut of Vada Chennai on the internet through some streaming platforms. This request is being placed by the fans in regular intervals, but one does not know if it will be addressed by the makers of Vada Chennai.

Vetri Maaran currently has three big projects lined up - one with Soori under the production of RS Infotainment, Vaadivaasal with Suriya under the production of Kalaipuli S Thanu and another untitled film with Dhanush for RS Infotainment. Vetri Maaran is one of the most wanted directors in the country, especially after the blockbuster success of Asuran and let us hope that he continues to deliver us some more cult classics.
