It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The numbers have been remaining steadily high for quite some time now! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5871 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 314,520! Of these, 993 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 112,059! Kancheepuram has recorded 371 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 12852, while 2758 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 19175 total cases of which 3024 are currently active and Madurai has recorded a total of 12366 cases with 1009 of them being currently active. Chengalpattu alone has recorded 439 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thiruvallur registered 407 new cases and Kancheepuram has recorded 371 new cases!
There have been 119 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 5278. The number of deaths per day has now crossed 100 for nearly 10 days and it doesn't seem to be going down! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 112,059 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 52,929 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 10,953! The number of recoveries has been very good over the last few days but after a long time, today's recoveries are lesser than the number of new infections, though just marginally! There have been 5633 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 256,313. There have been 71,575 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 3,432,025 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
