Anti-piracy certificate to Adlabs

India`s largest entertainment company Adlabs, an arm of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, has become the first motion picture services facility in Asia to be certified by the UK's industry body Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT). This is the first time in FACT's 25-year history that it has accredited a company outside the UK or Europe.

"The certification is a major recognition of the efforts by Adlabs to protect and safeguard films that it handles from piracy," Adlabs CEO Anil Arjun told Monday. "Security is a serious issue for the film entertainment business with conservative estimates of revenue loss due to piracy in Asia-Pacific amounting to $ 1.2 billion annually. We are happy that our security concern has been acknowledged by a prestigious industry body," he added.

The FACT certification, issued to Adlabs in London Sep 5, applies to Adlabs' film processing and print lab, digital lab, digital cinema mastering facility as well as its preview theatre, all housed within its Film City premises in Mumbai. Adlabs Cinemas runs 175 screens nationwide.

The Adlabs facility in Mumbai has digital intermediate (DI), theatrical and video promo packaging, film scanning and film recording, visual effects and graphics, visual effects supervision, title design, HD and SD Telecine, HD and SD broadcast video tape mastering, DCI (digital cinema initiatives) compliant digital cinema encoding and mastering. Apart from Mumbai, Adlabs also has digital labs in Chennai and Kolkata.
