American Academy to sue Ismail Darbar
The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which presents the prestigious Oscar awards every year, has decided to file defamation charges against music director Ismail Darbar for his allegation against A.R. Rahman's Oscar awards.
Ismail Darbar had alleged that music maestro A.R. Rahman had bought the Oscar awards and did not deserve them. " I just don't understand how the music for Slumdog Millionaire won the prestigious awards. What was Oscar worthy about it? I would have been happy if he has won it for films like Roja or Bombay," he was quoted as saying.
It is also reported that the Academy may legally seek damages from Darbar for USD 50 millions.
