Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has begun shooting for his next project which is titled Raksha Bandhan. As the title suggests, this film will focus on the relationship between siblings and it is going to be an interesting project to watch out for. Raksha Bandhan is directed by Aanand L Rai, who is known for his collaborations with Dhanush in Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re. Aanand L Rai was the person who introduced Dhanush in Hindi cinema. The shooting of Raksha Bandhan has started today (June 21) and the shoot will take place following the Covid 19 protocols.

Sharing a picture with director Aanand L Rai from the sets of Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar wrote on his official Twitter page, "Growing up my sister, Alka was my first friend. It was the most effortless friendship. @aanandlrai's #RakshaBandhan is a dedication to her and a celebration of that special bond Day one of shoot today, need your love and best wishes @bhumipednekar #AlkaHiranandani". While Bhumi Pednekar will be seen as the female lead, the film's star cast also includes Sahej Kaur, Smrithi Srikanth, Sadia Khateeb, Deepika Khanna, and others.

Produced by Cape of Good Films in association with Colour Yellow Productions, this film's story is penned by Himanshu Sharma. The makers have planned to release the film in theatres on November 5 for the Diwali weekend, but the plan is subject to change, depending upon the Covid-19 situation. While announcing the film a few months before, Akshay Kumar mentioned that Raksha Bandhan is his dedication to his sister Alka Hiranandani. The star actor also revealed that it was the quickest project that he has ever signed and was confident of the film striking a chord with the audience.

Meanwhile, director Aanand L Rai is awaiting the release of Atrangi Re which is currently in the post-production stages. Atrangi Re features Dhanush, Akshay Kumar, and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles and has music composed by A.R.Rahman.
