Ajith Kumar will be kicking off 2023 in grand style with his Thunivu opening in cinemas worldwide for the festive occasion of Pongal in January. The upcoming film sees the superstar teaming up with director H. Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP and the Zee Studios banners after their Nerkonda Paarvai (2019) and Valimai (2022), and expectations are huge for the trio to come out all guns blazing with their latest venture, which is billed to be a mass action entertainer. With production already wrapped up and post-production works in its final stages, the makers on Saturday, December 31, released the highly-anticipated Thunivu trailer for Ajith fans as a special treat ahead of the New Year's Day celebrations.

The Thunivu trailer starts off with a bang and introduces Ajith in full glory, and we see him making his way into a bank and holding everyone hostage. With the heist underway, we witness the actor pitch his demands, with Manju Warrier giving him ample support in his mission to conduct the bank heist. We also get a glimpse of Samuthirakani, Ajay, Bucks, among others appearing as police officials making attempts to regain control over the bank that Ajith's character has taken over, while John Kokken is playing the role of the establishment's CEO, whose stocks take a big hit after the heist. Although at first glance, it may seem that Thunivu is a heist venture, there also seems to be a political angle to the plot as we see a politician involved in the mix in the story and it remains to be what filmmaker H. Vinoth has come up with his latest venture.

The action in the Thunivu trailer is massive and we can be sure the film will be a spectacle on the big screen when it releases in less than two weeks. The film is set to be the biggest release for Ajith in his career to date and is being distributed in Tamil Nadu by Red Giant Movies, while Lyca Productions has acquired the film's overseas rights. It is to be noted that the satellite rights of Thunivu have been bagged by broadcasting giant Kalaignar TV and will begin streaming after its theatrical release on Netflix.
