The 95th Academy Awards took place at the Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue, in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles on March 12, 2023, as several artistes from around the world were honored with the prestigious accolade. While The Elephant Whisperers and 'Nattu Nattu' in RRR have made Indians everywhere proud by winning the big prize, several other artistes have also heaped rewards from across the globe. Few artistes have won their maiden Oscar Awards, while some of them have made it a habit to win the rich coveted award over the years. Among this year’s nominees, Everything Everywhere All At Once has won seven Oscars after being nominated in 11 categories. Likewise, in every Academy Awards ceremony, we have seen new records being created and broken in great fashion.

Below is a look at who has won the most number awards, nominations and so on: 

1. Ben Hur (1959), Titanic (1997), and The Lord of The Rings: The Return of The Kings (2003) have won the most numbers of awards in a single Oscar Awards ceremony. The films garnered 11 awards each with Titanic having the most number of nominations (14 times).

2. John Ford has won the Best Director award four times, while Billy Wilder has had the most nominations with two awards (12 nominations). Clarence Brown, on the other hand, was nominated six times and never won an Oscar award.

3. Daniel Day-Lewis has won the most awards for Best Actor, having won thrice in 1987, 2007, and 2012, while seven other actors share the second place with 2 awards each.

4. While several actors have won the Academy Awards, Spencer Tracy and Laurence Olivier have the highest number of nominations to date (9 nominations).

5. Katharine Hepburn has won Best Actor awards four times, a record number. She has received 12 nominations. The person with the most nominations for acting is Meryl Streep. She was nominated 21 times and has won 3 Academy Awards.

8. Film music composer A.R. Rahman and film producer Guneet Monga are the only Indians to have won more than one Academy Award. A. R. Rahman won the Academy Award for Best Original Score for the 2008 British film Slumdog Millionaire and shared the Best Original Song Award with lyricist Gulzar for the song 'Jai Ho'. 10. Last, but not the least, Walt Disney has won the Oscars a whopping 22 times, which is undoubtedly the highest number of awards an individual has gotten to date. He has received these 22 awards from a record 59 nominations.
