Delhi-based YouTuber Gaurav Sharma has been arrested after he posted a video on his YouTube channel showing his pet dog Dollar being floated in the air using hydrogen balloons tied to its back. The thirty-two-year-old has been arrested on charges of cruelty to the animal as he put his pet's life in danger to make the video, DCP South Atul Thakur said. The YouTuber had later issued an apology in another video after deleting the video in which he let his pet fly with helium balloons tied to its back.

A case has been lodged against Gaurav at the Malviya Nagar police station after an issue was raised about the video by People for Animals. The video shot was released on YouTube on May 21 under the title Flying Dollar with helium gas balloon, which had a shot of the pet dog seen flying with Gaurav saying, "Let's make Dollar fly". A woman was also seen in the now-deleted video, with Gaurav seen telling, "Please don't take it wrong. When we will fly Dollar, we will take all safety precautions." In the video posted initially on YouTube, the YouTuber is also shown entering a shop and asking a shopkeeper on the number of balloons required to make the dog fly up in the air. Gaurav Sharma, whose YouTube channel goes by the name Gauravzone, has around 4.15 million subscribers, with this latest video about his pet dog being tied to balloons and flown up in the air drawing major flak from many of his followers and subscribers. Soon after negative reactions started coming in for the video, the YouTuber deleted it and made an apology video where he said that he took all safety precautions before flying up Dollar. He added that the footage of the safety precautions taken before his pet dog was flown was not added in the video as it increased the length and the runtime. "I am also a pet lover...I got influenced by seeing some video from outside. I apologise for that and I will appeal to all of those watching to not get influence by my video," he said after showing old footage of his Pomeranian dog. Despite the apology video, followers were not pleased with the earlier actions of the YouTuber and wrote on the YouTube comments section that he should have rather made a video on the safety precautions that he had taken.
