Yogi Babu's next venture in the lead role, Mandela, had its first look unveiled on Friday giving us a glimpse into the comedian turned hero's character in the film. Although not much was revealed in the Mandela first look poster, we did get a hint that the film will be a political satire, with Yogi Babu playing the role of a barber. Directed by debutant Madonne Ashwin, a popular name on the short film circuit, the much-awaited Mandela teaser has now been released and promises to be yet another fun outing for Yogi Babu's fans as the actor has often dabbled in interesting performance-oriented roles like Kolamaavu Kokila and Pariyerum Perumal to name a few.

The Mandela teaser opens with two bigwig politicians in a small village gearing up for the election campaign, with the candidates approaching voters and offering them cash for votes, including making attempts to woo them by different tactics. As the teaser progresses, we see it coming to a standoff between the two candidates, who then try to get the vote of one Nelson Mandela, being played by Yogi Babu, a barber who has returned to the village from abroad. The biggest USP of the Mandela teaser is no doubt Yogi Babu and his subtle hilarious antics, with the comedian leaving the best for the end when he questions why he has to vote for the third candidate when he's been paid only by the two contesting candidates, with the third supposed representative revealed to be the option of NOTA.

Mandela has been produced by S. Sashikanth's Y Not Studios, with blockbuster director Balaji Mohan, known for his Kaadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi, Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, Maari and Maari 2, serving as the creative producer on the film, which has music by Bharath Sankar, with the audio rights being leading music label, Sony Music. Philomin Raj, whose work in 'Thalapathy' Vijay's recent mega-blockbuster, Master, garnered immense praise from fans and critics, is the editor of Mandela, with Meyaadha Maan fame Vidhu Ayyanna handling the cinematography and Ramu Thangaraj in charge of the art direction department. Certified 'U' by the censor board, there have been rumors of late that Mandela could be heading for a direct OTT release on a leading streaming platform, with only an official confirmation bound to give us better clarity.
