One of Hollywood's most-talked-about couples, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, have called it quits, People magazine reported. The leading power couple have parted ways after dating for nearly four years and called off their two-year engagement after Rodriguez proposed to Lopez in March 2019. The former couple were seen together last on March 1 in the Dominican Republic where Lopez has been shooting for one of her upcoming films. Their split has come nearly a month after Lopez confirmed in an interview that they had sought professional help last year amid COVID-19 lockdown. "We got to work on ourselves. We did therapy. I think it was really helpful for us in our relationship," she told Allure in February 2021.

Jennifer Lopez's relationship took a hit when Southern Charm's Madison LeCroy was accused of an affair with Alex Rodriguez in January 2021 during the show's reunion special. Lopez and Rodriguez, who called off their Italian nuptials in 2020 and postponed it in view of the pandemic, did not address the claims of the affair, but the former Major League Baseball (MLB) star's source had told Us Weekly that he "never met" LeCroy.

Lopez and Rodriguez's relationship was confirmed in March 2017, with the global pop icon a month later on The Ellen DeGeneres Show speaking about her future plans. She said, "I was having lunch somewhere and I saw him. He passed by. Afterward, I went outside, but for some reason, I felt like tapping him on the shoulder and said, 'Hi.'" The couple made their first red carpet appearance at the Met Gala in May 2017 and celebrated Christmas together as a family the same year. During her acceptance speech for the Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2018, Lopez was in high praise about Rodriguez and went on to rave about him.

The couple got engaged in March 2019 after Rodriguez popped the big question, with the couple later enjoying a tropical vacation. He announced the news of their engagement on Instagram and shared a photo of Lopez wearing a huge square-cut diamond ring. "She said yes," he captioned the picture. Lopez had been married thrice before - to Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998, to Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003, and to Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014, with whom she had twins - Max and Emme, while also being engaged earlier to Ben Affleck from 2002 to 2004. Meanwhile, Rodriguez was married to Cynthia Scurtis from 2002 to 2008 and the former couple share two daughters, Natasha and Ella.

Jennifer Lopez, who is known predominantly among fans world over as a singer and a dancer, is also one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood and is currently the highest-paid actress of Latin descent, having appeared in films like Anaconda, The Cell, The Wedding Planner, Maid in Manhattan, The Boy Next Door, Ice Age: Continental Drift and Ice Age: Collision Course, including her last starring role Hustlers, in which she also served as one of the producers, while also receiving praise from critics for her performance. Lopez will next be seen in the romantic comedy film, Marry Me, opposite Owen Wilson.
