Filmmakers often claim that they are smothered by negative criticism on movies and how media portrays many of their work to the public. Whenever a director or producer asks a direct question to the big media, the setup tends to silence them on multiple levels.

Things have changed and it is more apt to say that a filmmaker has actually took the plunge to point out the flaws in television and print media. The movie is none other than Kavan directed by KV Anand which openly criticized everything wrong with how news reports are generated yet it didn’t stop the movie from becoming a 100 days super hit flick. Critics praised it as well and so did the televisions and magazines.

Kavan is about to be telecasted on Zee Tamil as Vinayagar Chathurthi special and it would be a huge win for the director for voicing out his opinion in a manner that was accepted by the media wholeheartedly. More such meaningful films can change the route of Tamil cinema.
