After the roaring success of Visaranai (based on Chandrakumar's Lock Up), director Vetrimaaran has chosen another novel--Shoes of the Dead. The director is planning for a feature film adaption and the he is likely to bankroll the project under his Grass Root Film Company. The film will highlight the issue of farmers' suicide. “Thanks Vetrimaaran for choosing my book ‘Shoes Of The Dead’ for a movie. Farmer suicides have waited long for spotlight," author Neelima Kota posted on her microblogging site.
