One of the most celebrated comedy and character artistes of Tamil cinema - Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu has been missing in action, for quite some time now! His last on screen appearance was in Thalapathy Vijay's Mersal, which was directed by Atlee. After playing character roles for long, Vadivelu turned into a hero and had quite a few releases. However, after an unsuccessful stint in politics, Vadivelu faced issues with the Tamil Nadu Producers Council after a dispute with the Imsai Arasan 24aam Pulikecei team. Though it has been rumoured for long that he would return to movies any time now, it has not materialised.

Now, a Twitter account in Vadivelu's name has taken the internet by storm. This account posted a tweet with a message stating that he is well and truly back, a-la Superstar Rajinikanth style in Kabali. The message also thanks his "friends Vijay & Suriya" and adds that he would never "forget Ajith". A video which was posted with this Tweet has Vadivelu himself telling that he had opened a Twitter account after his friends suggested it to him and also because he would be able to interact with his fans & followers using it. This created quite a stir online and many people began following this account. However, some reports suggest that when they got in touch with Vadivelu, he had informed them that this was a fake account and not created by him.

Recently, Vadivelu was accosted by the Press while on a visit to the Tiruchendur Temple. Here, he was questioned about his political aspirations and also about Superstar Rajinikanth's entry into politics. Following some witty and sarcastic replies here, he then held a Press Meet and officially addressed the Press & Media. In this meet, Vadivelu revealed that he has decided not to play hero roles any more and that he would soon be returning to movies in his regular avatar as a comedian and character artiste. It was earlier reported that Vadivelu would be joining hands with Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan for his next project - Thalaivan Irukkindran! Just like thousands of Vadivelu's followers, we are also eagerly looking forward to once again seeing the Vaigai Puyal, back on screens!
