It's OFFICIAL - actor Vijay's next, the long-awaited Thalapathy 66 has been announced, with the superstar joining hands with director Vamshi Paidipally under Telugu producers Dil Raju and Shirish’s Sri Venkateswara Creations for the first time. The news of the film's launch has come as a massive surprise for fans, who were taken away by the sudden announcement on Sunday afternoon, with the makers issuing an official press release. In their statement, SVC has stated that they are elated to be collaborating with Vijay for the tentatively titled Thalapathy 66, with the film's title, cast and the rest of the crew to be announced officially soon.  

Sri Venkateswara Creations' official statement about Vijay's Thalapathy 66 is as follows:

The talk surrounding Thalapathy 66 had been doing the rounds for a while now, with director Vamshi Paidipally and Vakeel Saab producer Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations attached to the venture, which is being speculated to be a pan-Indian venture. Vamshi Paidipally is known for his Telugu blockbusters films like Oppiri (Thozha in Tamil with Karthi) and the Mahesh Babu-starrer Maharshi. As for Vijay, he is currently in Delhi to shoot a few key sequences for his upcoming film, Beast, being directed by Nelson Dilipkumar of Kolamaavu Kokila fame under the Sun Pictures banner.
