The FM Radio broadcasters continue to battle with music companies on various issues including payment of royalty in respect of broadcasting the songs owned by these music companies as well as payment of royalty in respect of underlying musical and literary works.

Recently, Super Cassettes Industries Ltd also popularly known as T-Series have terminated the broadcast licenses granted to "92.7 BIG FM" (owned by Reliance Broadcast Network Ltd.) since 31st Dec 2011 as well as "RADIO MANTRA" (owned by Shri Puran Multimedia Ltd) since 20th January 2012. T-Series spokesperson confirmed that none of the radio stations managed by the Reliance Broadcast Network Ltd and Shri Puran Multimedia Ltd. are playing the music owned by T-Series since the termination of their license agreements.

It is learnt that RADIO CITY (owned by Music Broadcast Pvt Ltd) has recently reached a settlement with T-Series after a gap of one year and has once again commenced playing popular music owned by T-Series.

It is also learnt that various legal proceedings are going on before the Copyright Board (a specialized tribunal setup to adjudicate disputes relating to copyright and licensing) as well as the Hon'ble Delhi High Court between these radio stations and T-Series in relation to the aforesaid royalty related issues. However, T-Series spokesperson refused to make any comments upon the same. One can only hope that the issues get resolved soon.
