Actress Kalyani became an instant sensation among fans in Tamil Nadu after her debut in 2000 in 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Kannukkul Nilavu under hit director Fazil's direction and alongside Shalini Ajith. Having started her career as a child artiste in Malayalam, she went on leave a strong impression in Tamil cinema after starring in films namely Kasi alongside National Award-winning actor 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Pennin Manathai Thottu with Prabhu Deva, the Prashanth-starrer Appu and Samuthiram with Sarathkumar and Murali to name a few.

Kalyani then headed to the Telugu film industry where she tasted massive success as a heroine and was when she had met actor-director Surya Kiran, with whom she fell in love. Although neither Kalyani nor Surya Kiran had opened up about the status of their relationship up until now, the latter had in a recent interview confirmed that their marriage had ended.

Surya Kiran, who had recently gotten evicted after the first week in Bigg Boss Telugu season 4 hosted by Akkineni Nagarjuna, went on to reveal that Kalyani had left him many years back. He went on to say that he still wants her back as he still loves her, but added that she has her own reasons to not live with him.
