The year 2020 has been a traumatic one for everyone world over due to the coronavirus pandemic crisis, which has claimed more than one million lives to date, with over 33 million positive cases recorded so far. Apart from the COVID-19 outbreak, natural disasters and man-made calamities across the globe, there have been a number of noted personalities who succumbed to their deaths this year, among whom Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Tamil comedian Vadivelu Balaji and most recently, legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam's passing away have evoked huge emotional reactions from people from all walks of life.

With countless fans in Tamil Nadu and around the world yet to come out of the tragedy of iconic singer-actor SPB's demise last week, the shocking death of actor Thennarasu has come as yet another major blow for those associated with the film industry. Thennarasu had appeared in the Sivakarthikeyan-Oviya starrer, Marina, in 2012 under Pandiraj's direction.

Having starred in a few other films, Thennarasu was living with his family at Mylapore in Chennai. It has been revealed that the young actor had taken the grave step to end his life after getting involved in a family quarrel. A disheartened Thennarasu had then hung himself in his house and committed suicide leading to a massive shock among his family and friends. His death has led to considerable sadness in the family, with well-wishers consoling them since the tragedy. Many have stated that his move was a rushed one and that he should have exhibited calmness at the face of tribulations rather than choosing to end life. Condolences have been pouring in for Thennarasu from close family members, friends and colleagues in the Tamil film industry.
