The Nirbhaya rape and murder case, which happened in Delhi, shook the entire nation and there was a public outcry for such shocking crimes against women to be prevented. However, even now it doesn't look like anything has changed. A similar incident of a 19-year-old Dalit woman being gangraped by 4 people, happened on September 14th! This incident happened in the Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh where the accused dragged the unfortunate woman into a field and raped her. The assault left the woman having no sensation in all her four limbs (quadriplegic) as her head, neck and spine were injured. The accused did not stop with that and also cut out the woman's tongue.
The victim's neck and spine had been damaged as she had been tied up using her own dupatta and was strangled with it. As soon as the Police were notified of the incident, she was shifted to a hospital in Aligarh and treated there. However, due to the severe nature of her injuries, she has been placed on a ventilator in the ICU. She regained consciousness just a couple of days back and gave her statement to the Police. Based on this, three men - Sandeep, his uncle Ravi (35) and their friend Luv Kush, were tracked down and arrested by the Police. A couple of days since that, the Police have now nabbed the 4th accused also! This news was confirmed by the SP of Hathras region - Vikrant Vir, who mentioned that the remaining accused Ramu had also been arrested and sent to jail.
Vikrant Vir also stated that cases had been registered against all the accused, under IPC sections of gangrape, attempt to murder and SC/ST Act. All the evidences gathered from the spot have been compiled and the Police are investigating the accused. We hear that the Police are submitting all the evidence as well as filing a chargesheet at a fast-track Court, for immediate action. Doctors treating the victim have stated that she is not able to breathe properly yet, due to her multiple injuries. They also added that she is on a ventilator and that they would be referring her to a Delhi hospital, if required. This sort of hate crime should definitely not go unpunished and the criminals should be given due punishment. Stay tuned for updates...
