Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam is currently in the process of executing his dream project, Ponniyin Selvan, which is being made as a two-part film. The film features an ensemble star cast that includes the likes of Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Jayaram, Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin Kakamanu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aadukalam Kishore, Rahman, Nizhalgal Ravi, Mohan Raman, and many others. The shoot of the film is currently stalled due to the Covid-19 second wave. Just a few weeks before, the team had wrapped up a long and challenging schedule in Hyderabad at Ramoji Film City.

Around 70% of the film's shooting is completed and the rest is expected to be shot when the situation gets better. Meanwhile, there has been various fan made posters for Ponniyin Selvan and we have seen a lot of it in the past. Recently, a fan made poster featuring Keerthy Suresh as Kundhavai was released and it went viral on social media. The poster looked so good that a section of people thought it was an official poster. This also lead to speculations about Keerthy's presence in the film. To clear the confusion, the team that created the character poster issued a statement making it clear that it was not an official poster.

The team's clarification statement read, "To clear all the speculations & confusions regarding the previous creative, which was released by us, and which is circulating online is purely an imaginary fanmade poster which is a part of a imaginary character series for the film, Ponniyin Selvan and its not an official poster. Team Pixel Draw Media". For the uninformed, we would also like to make it clear that Keerthy Suresh is not a part of Ponniyin Selvan. She was initially supposed to be a part of the film, but later, she was replaced by Trisha due to call sheet issues. Produced by Lyca Productions in association with Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies, Ponniyin Selvan will have music scored by A.R.Rahman.

Ravi Varman has handled the film's cinematography, while Sreekar Prasad is the editor. This historical epic film has phenomenal expectations among the fans and it is surely going to be a visual spectacle.
