Silambarasan TR's Maanaadu is one of the most expected films of this year and the fans have pinned high hopes on the movie. The first single song from the film, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja was supposed to release on May 14, for the Ramzan weekend and the fans were eagerly looking forward to it. However, the release has now been pushed to a later date due to the unfortunate demise of director Venkat Prabhu's mother. Gangai Amaran's wife and mother of Venkat Prabhu and Premgi Amaran - Manimegalai breathed her last during the night hours of May 9 and notable film personalities expressed their heartfelt condolences to Venkat Prabhu and family.

The makers of Maanaadu felt that it wouldn't be right to release the single song when the director of the film is going through an emotionally tough phase. As a result, the song's release has been postponed and the film's producer Suresh Kamatchi shared the news with the fans.

Suresh Kamatchi's tweet is loosely translated in English as, "I would like to inform everyone with sadness that the release of the first single from our film, Maanaadu, has been postponed by a few days, as our director Venkat Prabhu has lost his mother. We will release the single on a different date and the announcement regarding that will be made later. Let us take part in the grief of our friend. Stay careful. We will overcome this soon. Thank you brothers". This decision from the makers have earned a good response from the fans who have also understood the stiatuion.

Maanaadu is directed by Venkat Prabhu and it features Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead. While SJ Suryah will be seen as the key antagonist, the film's star cast also includes the likes of Bharathiraja, SA Chandrasekhar, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaran, Y Gee Mahendran, Daniel Annie Pope, Udhayaa, Manoj Bharathiraja, and others. The film is expected to release in theatres in the later half of this year, depending upon the Covid-19 situation.
