Actor and politician Kamal Haasan took to his official Twitter page to heap praise on the makers of Shershaah, directed by Vishnu Vardhan. Shershaah which features Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani in the lead roles was released a few days before on Amazon Prime Video, opening to fairly positive reviews from the critics and general audience. The film was appreciated for its making and strong production quality. Shershaah was based on the real life story of Captain Vikram Batra, who played an instrumental part in the 1999 Kargil War. Kamal Haasan seems to have been impressed by the work of Vishnu Vardhan and the team and he had all the nicest words to tell about the film.

Kamal Haasan tweeted, "Right from my childhood as a film fan and a patriot's son I resented the way Indian army was depicted in some of our Cinemas. Shershaah is that exception that makes my chest swell with pride for my soldiers. Thanks @DharmaMovies for promoting a talented director like @vishnu_dir. Vishnu Vardhan, known for making movies like Arindhum Ariyamalum, Billa, and Arrambam, made his debut in Hindi cinema with Shershaah and the talented filmmaker must be highly elated on hearing these words from the legendary Kamal Haasan. Shershaah's producer Karan Johar thanked Kamal Haasan for his encouraging words. Kamal Haasan is currently shooting for his next film, Vikram that is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Vikram features Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil as the other leads and has music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Narain, Kalidas Jayaram, Shivani Narayanan, are also a part of the film's star cast.
