Director M. Rajesh's last film, Mr. Local, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara didn't fare as expected at the box office, with a number of fans disappointed that the filmmaker could not recreate the magic he had done with his earlier ventures like Siva Manasula Sakthi, Boss Engira Baskaran and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi. However, Rajesh is now all set to be back with a bang as his next directorial venture with G. V. Prakash returning to star in the lead role and Bigil actress Amritha Aiyer now has a title, which was unveiled along with the two posters on Monday.

Touted to be a fun-filled youth entertainer, the upcoming GV Prakash and Amritha Aiyer starrer has been titled Vanakkam Da Mappilei and will also include Anandaraj, Daniel Annie Pope, and Bigg Boss fame Reshma Pasupuleti in vital supporting roles. Taking to Twitter, Sun TV wrote, "Presenting the first look of #VanakkamDaMappilei starring @gvprakash and directed b @rajeshmdirector @Actor_Amritha @Danielanniepope @Reshupasupuleti @EditorAshi @SnehanMNM @pavijaypoet  #Pragathy #Jayaprakash #VanakkamDaMappileiFirstLook". Vanakkam Da Mappilei is incidentally the second collaboration for GV Prakash and director Rajesh after they earlier worked in Kadavul Irukaan Kumaru in 2016.

Produced by Sun Entertainment, a network of Sun Network, Vanakkam Da Mappilei is planned to be a quickie, with plans reportedly to bring out the film on the auspicious festive occasion of Tamil New Year in April. The upcoming film will most likely be premiering directly on the Sun TV channel skipping its theatrical release as in line with the broadcasting giant's other films namely the Prasanna starrer Naanga Romba Busy and Vikram Prabhu's Pulikkuthi Paandi. One of the big highlights in Vanakkam Da Mappilei is the multi-talented National Award-winning actor Dhanush singing and penning the lyrics for a song titled 'Tata Bye Bye', which is expected to be released as a single track soon.
