For Tamil cinema lovers, especially those were born in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the name K. T. Kunjumon garners immense admiration as he was the man who bankrolled several box office blockbusters. Having started his career as a co-producer in Malayalam films, he gradually entered production in Tamil cinema and hit the bullseye with Suriyan in 1992 under his A. R. S. Film International banner, which elevated Sarath Kumar's action star status a notch higher. Following the film's success, he then went on to produce the first of his associations with director Shankar in 1993 with Gentleman, starring Arjun, Madhoo and Goundamani in the lead roles. The success of the film catapulted Shankar to overnight stardom including cementing producer K. T. Kunjumon's place in the Tamil film industry.

Post the back-to-back hits, K. T. Kunjumon joined hands once again with Shankar for the action romantic thriller, Kaadhalan, in 1994 with Prabhu Deva and Nagma as the lead stars, with the feature also including chart-buster hits composed by A. R. Rahman. Since then, he went on to produce a few more notable ventures in Tamil among which include the Akkineni Nagarjuna and Sushmita Sen starrer, Kadhal Desam and Nilaave Vaa and Endrendrum Kadhal with Vijay.

Now, K. T. Kunjumon has announced his return to film production once again with Gentleman 2, the sequel to his 1993 mega blockbuster, Gentleman. Launched under his newly banner, Gentleman Film International, Gentleman 2 will be made in five languages including Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. The cast and crew for the film are yet to be announced and it also needs to be seen who will be taking charge of the project as the director including the person who will be entrusted to compose the musical score and songs. It is unknown at this point whether Shankar, Arjun, Madhoo, Goundamani and Senthil will be involved with the upcoming project. As of now, no release date has been announced and we can expect further updates on this highly exciting new project in the days ahead as the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions begin to ease. Filming details are also yet to be announced as the project will come off as a mighty interesting one especially to those who grew up enjoying the original Gentleman in the early 90s. Incidentally, Gentleman 2 will also be third Shankar film sequel after his Enthiran was followed up 2.0 and Indian 2 is coming out after Indian in 1996.
