It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5584 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 480,524! Of these, 993 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 144,595! Kancheepuram has recorded 171 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 18,799, while 1,284 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 29,231 total cases of which 2,468 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 27,122 cases with 1,905 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 445 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Cuddalore registered 344 new cases and Salem has recorded 279 new cases!
There have been 78 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 8090. The number of deaths per day has been remaining below 100 for some days now! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 144,595 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 49,203 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 10,854! There have been 6516 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 423,231. There have been 82,573 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 5,544,850 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
