Director Shankar's Indian 2 has been stalled for the last one year due to various reasons. Ever since the crane accident happened in February 2020, there has been no progress, in terms of Indian 2's shooting. Very recently, the film's production company, Lyca Productions filed a legal case in the Madras High Court, against director Shankar, claiming that the director should not move to any other project before completing Indian 2. Shankar had already announced two big pan-Indian projects in the last few months and these announcements made Lyca Productions move the issue to the court. Having said that, Shankar's side has now filed a reply petition in the case.

In his statement, director Shankar has made it clear that he is not responsible for the delay in the production of Indian 2. He called it to be the fault of Lyca Productions and made strong allegations against the company. Shankar stated that Lyca Productions has filed the case, hiding the history behind the production. According to Shankar's statement, Dil Raju (Telugu producer) was supposed to produce Indian 2 initially and it was Lyca who convinced Dil Raju and took over the charge of production. If Dil Raju had been the producer, Indian 2 would have released by now, added Shankar.

The ace filmmaker told in his statement that Lyca Productions delayed the process at every juncture, be it acquiring permission for shoots, setting up shoot floors, funding, etc. Kamal Haasan's makeup issues (skin problems), crane accident, Corona, and lockdown were the other reasons that were cited by Shankar for the delay. He claimed that there has been no development from June 2020 - May 2021 and made it clear that he cannot sit idle without work. Making it clear that he is not responsible for the delay in Indian 2's shoot, Shankar has reportedly told that he is ready to resume the shoot from June. After hearing Shankar's side of the story, the Madras High Court has adjourned the case to June 4.

We hope that a positive call is taken from both sides so that the fans will be able to witness the grand entertainer in the theatres. Let us keep our fingers crossed and see how the case progresses in the coming days.

Up next, Shankar will be joining hands with Telugu actor Ram Charan for a Tamil - Telugu bilingual and later, he will be working with Ranveer Singh on the Hindi remake of Anniyan.
