One of the most respected filmmakers in Tamil cinema, director Bala arrived in a thunderous manner with his blockbuster, Sethu, in 1999 and has since gone on to make several notable and critically-acclaimed films which include Nandha, Pithamagan, Naan Kadavul, Avan Ivan, Paradesi, Tharai Thappattai and last year’s hit, Naachiyaar. Bala, who won the National Award for Pithamagan, has also produced a few films under his B Studios banner among which are Maayavi starring Suriya, Pisaasu directed by Mysskin and the Atharvaa starrer, Chandi Veeran. Now, Bala is all set to produce his next venture, which has been revealed to be a remake of the smash hit Malayalam film, Joseph, and will see popular producer turned actor RK Suresh in the lead role.
Joseph had Kerala State Award winner Joju George as the lead and eventually fetched him the National Award for his performance in the film. Directed by M. Padmakumar, the Tamil remake of Joseph will once again be helmed by him with RK Suresh stepping into Joju George’s shoes for the lead role. The upcoming remake will incidentally also mark Bala's second time association with RK Suresh after their Thaarai Thappattai in 2016 in which he played the antagonist.
