Dhanush celebrated his 37th birthday recently (on July 28) and the entire social media was abuzz about it. The fans made the day special with their creatively designed posters, common DPs and tribute videos. Adding up to the celebration was the release of ‘Rakita Rakita Rakita’ song from Jagame Thandhiram and the title look / making video of Karnan. It must have definitely been a memorable birthday for the multi faceted actor who is currently spending the lockdown time with his family in Chennai. Having said that, Dhanush has now shared an official statement, thanking everyone for their wishes, love and support.

Dhanush also acknowledged the noble efforts of his fans who have been engaged in helping the poor and needy during this pandemic. Talking in an official statement, Dhanush said, "I don't know how to thank my fans. Your affection has left me overwhelmed and at a loss for words. I have been seeing all of your common DPs, mashups, videos, the countdown designs you have been making for the past three months... It gave me such joy, entertainment and happiness. Thank you so, so, much.

Moreover, I have been following the social work that you have been engaged in. I am amazed by your enthusiasm and am extremely proud of all of you. I also thank my well-wishers from the film fraternity, social activists, politicians, and friends who took the time to wish me over the phone, print media, television, radio and social media. To those who continue to shower their good will upon me, I wish to convey my heartfelt thanks and greetings”. This statement has gone viral among the fans who were delighted by Dhanush’s words. Also, Dhanush personally thanked all the notable celebrities on Twitter for their wishes.

On the work front, Dhanush’s immediate next release would be Jagame Thandhiram, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. In this film, Dhanush will be seen as Suruli, a local gangster/don who travels to London for an unfinished business. The fans have got huge expectations on this film and it is touted to release when the theatres reopen after the pandemic.

Then, there is Karnan which is 90% complete. The rest of the portions will be completed after the lockdown and Karnan is indeed going to be an important film to watch out for. This film is directed by Mari Selvaraj who made a striking debut with Pariyerum Perumal. He is also committed to doing a film each with directors Karthick Naren (D43), Ramkumar (of Mundasupatti and Ratsasan fame), and Selvaraghavan.

Sun Pictures has also got one project with Dhanush (tentatively called D 44). Not to forget his next Hindi film, Atrangi Re, directed by Aanand L Rai who introduced Dhanush in Bollywood.
