Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday issued a new media bulletin in regard to combating the COVID-19 outbreak stating that 6,426 fresh positive cases were recorded on July 29 taking the total number of cases in the state to 2,34,114. The total number of active coronavirus cases across the state including those in isolation as on today is 57,490.

There were 1,117 new coronavirus positive cases reported in Chennai taking the district's total to 97,575 cases. Chennai has shown a remarkable improvement over the past three weeks as the cases keep continuing to drop significantly. The worrisome state of affairs that Chennai had encountered not long back is now being faced by the rest of the districts in the state. At present, Chennai city alone has 12,735 active cases and includes those currently undergoing treatment under home quarantine.

82 people died on Friday across Tamil Nadu due to COVID-19 taking the state's death toll up to 3,741 casualties. Meanwhile, the recoveries count keeps progressing forward at a steady pace as the past 24 hours have seen 5,927 patients getting discharged taking the total to 1,72,883. The recovery rate of the state is currently standing at 73.85% and is no doubt a huge improvement, which is due to the efforts of the medical officials, doctors, nurses, health workers, paramedics and also because of the cooperation extended by the people. 

The total number of samples tested across in Tamil Nadu today are 60,794, which once again is high in comparison to the tests being carried out across the country, while the overall tests carried out stands at 25,36,660. Likewise, the number of persons tested today are 58,818 with the total in the state going up to 24,42,482.
