During the early hours of Wednesday (December 9), popular Tamil television serial actress Chitra (a) Chithu VJ died by suicide and her demise came as a shocker for the people across the state. According to reports, she was found hanging in a hotel room in the outskirts of Chennai, near EVP Film City. It is said that Chithu took part in an upcoming program on Vijay TV last night and it happened at EVP Film City. The shoot got over only around 2.30 AM in the night and since it would not be practically possible to travel home and return the next day morning, Chithu decided to stay in a nearby private hotel. Chithu had got engaged to an entrepreneur named Hemanth and the couple was supposed to get married in February 2021.

It is said that Hemanth had accompanied Chithu during her stay in the hotel. During the early hours of this morning, Chithu took the extreme decision of hanging herself. Everyone was taken aback when the news came out that she was no more. Since she looked very happy, positive, and vibrant in the recently shared videos and pictures, people could not accept the reality. Chithu's mortal remains is currently kept at Kilpauk Medical College for post-mortem and other formalities. The police officials are investigating Chithu's fiance Hemanth and the Hotel staff regarding this incident and more details are awaited.

Meanwhile, Chitra's father, Kamaraj, and relatives have filed a Police complaint at Nazarethpettai Police Station, demanding an immediate investigation on Chithu's death. Kamaraj has reportedly requested the Police to find the real person who is behind this incident. Earlier, Chithu's mother had claimed that there is a mystery around her daughter's demise and added that her daughter is not a weak person to commit suicide. Chithu's mother also doubted the suicide and also requested the Police to find if it was a murder. More details are awaited.

For the uninformed, Chitra (a) Chithu VJ earned wide popularity and fame after a long travel in the television industry for the past seven years. She started out as an anchor for a small program in Makkal TV and later worked in several other television channels. She got her initial breakthrough after playing an important role in Vijay TV's Saravanan Meenatchi: Season 2. Eventually, she landed the opportunity of playing the female lead in the serial, Pandian Stores, which made her a star actor. Chithu became the darling of the masses after her performance in the serial.
