According to latest reports, actress Chitra's husband and entrepreneur Hemanth has been arrested by the Police in connection with the case. After three days of continuous investigation, Hemanth has been arrested for alleged abetment to Chitra's suicide and further details are awaited. It is said that Chitra and Hemanth had several arguments and disagreements in the recent past on many topics. Very recently, it is said that Hemanth and his family members were disappointed and angry with a few romantic scenes in Chitra's Pandian Stores serial. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sudarshan was reportedly quoted by NDTV as saying, "Hemanth did not like a scene she had enacted on TV. On the day she died, he had also pushed her,".

This statement from the Police have shocked the people of Tamil Nadu and it looks like something serious was going on between the two. Further details regarding the case are awaited. Chitra's family members, relatives and co-stars from the television industry were also questioned by the Police. It can be noted that Chitra's mother had already accused Hemanth of being one of the major reasons for her daughter's demise. Talking to the media, Chitra's mother claimed that she is having strong doubts on Hemanth. However, the post-mortem reports confirmed that Chitra's death was caused due to suicide. He was also never seen at Chitra's funeral event.
