Noted Malayalam comedian Innocent has created a niche for himself with his trademark humour. The actor, who won from his home turf, (Chalakudi constituency) in 2014 said he is not contesting the Lok Sabha elections this time. The actor reiterated that he took the decision due to his poor health. Also, he wanted to give way to newcomers, said the MP.


Innocent had helped the Left Front to wrest the constituency from the Congress by defeating veteran leader PC Chacko by a margin of over 13,000 votes. The actor, who had played a senior politician named Sahai in Sathyan Anthikad-Sreenivasan movie, Sandesham was at the centre of attention at the Parliament on his first day. The actor had also headed Malayalam actors’ body, AMMA as its president for 17 years.
