Seven Malayalam films in IFFI

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has selected seven Malayalam films for the Indian Panorama films to be screened at the thirty-ninth International Film Festival of India, 2008 (IFFI) to be held in November-December in Goa.

Director Jayaraj's Gulmohar, M. Mohan's Katha Parayumbol, T.V. Chandran's Vilapangalkappuram, Adoor Gopalakrishnan's Oru Pennum Randu Aanum, M.G. Sasi's Adayalangal, P. Kumaran's Aakashagopuram and Priyanandanan's Pulijanmam are the films selected for the Indian panorama films.

The reports and recommendations were submitted by the jury for the feature and non-feature segments of Indian Panorama of IFFI 2008 on Friday. Twenty five films have been recommended in the feature films segment, while 20 films were recommended for non-feature films category. Of the 21 films selected, seven are Malayalam.

Pulijanmam, the winner of best feature film at the 54th National Film Awards, has been given an automatic entry. Malayalee director Priyadarshan's Tamil film Kanchivaram has been selected for the competition section.
