Recently, the screenplay of Sasikumar’s Subramaniyapuram was translated into English and published as a book. Makes of the movie Sasikumar and Samuthirakani were present at the launch along with music director James Vasanthan. Gautham Menon, who is a huge fan of the film stated that Subramaniyapuram was like a Martin Scorsese film set in Madurai.

At the event, Sasikumar revealed that the remake rights of the film were held back because he wanted to direct the Hindi remake himself. Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap had expressed interest to be a part of the film. Since Sasikumar is now directing the movie, he plans to use Anurag as the script writer. The groundwork for the Hindi remake is underway
