Galatta media recently organised a Fans Festival for the actor Raghava Lawrence. During the event, the actor shared many interesting details about his films, career and about his personal life. As the anchor asked if he could share some incidents when he felt shameful. The actor-director said “When I was in school. My family members were in hunger. My family had not eater for one and half days, at that time. For the Mid-day meal scheme, the school will have huge utensils. If somebody is needed to pump water, they will asked if any boys want to help. If we pump the water in a hand pump, they will give extra five spoonfuls of food. In school, they asked if anybody was interested to pump water. It would be shameful to raise my hands in front of everyone, still, I raised my hand. There will be some other people who are in a difficult situation too, right? They will come and we went to pump the water. They gave five spoons of extra food. But, because many people will see and ask about it. I kept the food inside my aluminum box type of bag and had the books in my hands. I had the bag on my head and kept walking to my home. There will be an elderly brother with whom I would play football and he was drunk at that time. He asked me why are you carrying that on your head. I said 'because it’s sunny'. He said 'as if you are in MGR colour '(white skinned) jokingly and pushed that bag and the whole food dropped on the ground and got wasted. I was standing there and crying for about half an hour. Then I fought with that person and tore his shirt. Everyone was hungry at home, at that time. This incident affected me. That is why I provide free food on Thursday, free food for children all day in my trust. Because I knew the struggle and difficulty of Hunger."
