Moser Baer releases five Malayalam films

Moser Baer Entertainment, India's No. 1 Home Entertainment Company, will invest Rs. 120 crores in film production and acquiring home video rights across languages in 2009. According to G. Dhananjayan, Chief Operating Officer, Moser Baer Entertainment, the company will releases five new Malayalam films at an overall budget of Rs. 22 crore. Last year, Moser Baer released DVDs of two Malayalam films (Kurukshetra and Aakashagopuram).

Talking about the home video rights, Dhananjayan said it has acquired rights for some�recent Tamil movies including Subramaniapuram, Naan Kadavul and Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu�plus many Hindi films.

The company has already bagged the Tamil rights of the Hindi blockbuster Jab We Met and is planning to remake it as Kanden Kadhalai with�Bharath and Tamannaah in the lead. It is also planning two more films in Tamil: Mayilu and Aval Peyar Thamilarasi. In Hindi, Moser Baer Entertainment is producing two films: Sanket City (scheduled for release in April) and a thriller with a new star cast.

The company sells legal CDs and DVDs at the lowest prices in the world (Rs. 28 and Rs. 34 respectively) and is expected to bring out more Malayalam film titles shortly. Moser Baer acquired a license to manufacture and distribute VCDs and DVDs of Indian movies in 2007 and commenced�home video operations in India with the launch of Tamil films, followed by Malayalam films.
