Madhu opens Malappuram film festival

Veteran Malayalam actor Madhu (who is well known in Malayalam cinema for his powerful portrayal in the first-ever National award winning Malayalam film Chemmeen (1965) directed by Ramu Kariat) will inaugurate the 70th International Film Festival of Malappuram at the DTPC Auditorium, Kottakunnu on Saturday (February 21). Che (2008), directed by Steven Soderbergh, is the opening film.

Organized by Malappuram-based Rasmi Film Society, which is said to be the first Indian film body to organize 70 international film festivals, the four-day festival will feature many films screened at major international festivals, including the one held in Thiruvananthapuram. Rasmi Film Society holds the fest to mark its 34th anniversary.

The fest is organized in association with the Kerala State Chalachitra Akademi, the National Film Development Corporation, the National Film Archives, the State Public Relations Department, the Film Society Federation, Malappuram Municipality, the District Tourism Promotion Council, and Kodur Grama Panchayat.
