I.G. starts rolling

Malayalam superstar Suresh Gopi’s latest cop film I.G. by scriptwriter-turned-director B. Unnikrishnan has started rolling in and around Thiruvananthapuram.

Reports say the film is based on terrorism in Kerala. It deals with how youth are trained by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) in Pakistan to be sent as suicide bombers in various parts of our country. Suresh Gopi will play an Anti-Terrorism Squad chief like Hemant Karkare, who was killed in the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

Produced by Mahi (who had earlier produced Chess) under the banner of Super films, this police thriller is scripted by the director himself. After Smart City (2006), an average flick at the box office, it is the second time that B. Unnikrishnan teams up with Suresh Gopi. Unnikrishnan has recently directed the box office blockbuster Madambi, starring Mohanlal and Kavya Madhavan together for the first time.

I.G. has Jagathy Sreekumar, Vijayaraghavan, Devan, Govind Padmasuriya, Rajan P. Dev, Aashish Vidhyarthi, Nandhinee, Lakshmi, Anaida Nair and John Kokkan in prominent roles. Cinematography is by Shyam Dutt. M. Jayachandran will be the music director while Gireesh Puthencherry will pen the songs. The movie is expected to be completed in a single schedule.
