Case filed against actress Kavitha

SR Nagar police has registered a case against Telugu Desam Party (TDP) member, actress Kavitha on Wednesday on the basis of a complaint lodged by her two domestic helpsDurga and Bebi, alleging that Kavitha and her daughter had been mentally and physically harassing them in the name of caste.

"The case is registered under SC and ST (prevention of atrocities) Act against Kavitha," SR Nagar Inspector of police D. Pratap said. The housemaids, natives of Mandapet in East Godavari district, have been working in Kavitha's house at Dharam Karam road since December 2008. Both the girls have allegedly faced severeharassment from Kavitha, whopoured hot oil on the hands and neck of Durga.

Meanwhile, TDP sources said that this is purely a political move to create unrest among the women cadre. According to reports, the party has already begun to beef up their defences tobail Kavitha out of the issue. Kavitha, who recently joined the party, is now busy campaigning for the upcoming elections.
