Avatar: The Way of Water is an upcoming epic science fiction film directed by James Cameron. It serves as the sequel to the 2009 film Avatar and is the second installment in the Avatar film franchise. The film will feature cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, Dileep Rao, and Matt Gerald reprising their roles from the original film, while the new cast members include Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Brendan Cowell.
The film is scheduled for a grand worldwide theatrical release on December 16. With over 3 weeks to go for the film to hit the screens, advance booking for its tickets has opened up in India. This has sent the fan's excitement into overdrive as they are more than ecstatic.
It has also been announced that the film will be running for 24 hours with its first screening to start as soon as 12 am. This will only be seen in select theatres in India. While there in no information suggesting where this will happen, a list will be out soon. Fans, critics and the general public and flocking to various movie booking portals in order to get themselves tickets before its too late. Given that the upcoming sequel is releasing after nearly 13 years, there is a massive demand for it.
The following three sequels have also been announced. They will release respectively on 20 December 2024, 18 December 2026, and 22 December 2028. The filming for Avatar 3 has already been completed with its post-production going on at full speed. Part of Avatar 4 have been shot and is currently being filmed at the moment. Avatar: The Way of Water's estimated budget is said to be a whopping $350 to $400 million, making it easily one of the most expensive films of all time ever to be made.
While Avatar was more about awe and wonder, Avatar 2 will focus more on the characters. The highly anticipated sequel expands on the magical world of Pandora by transporting fans to the bottom of the deep blue sea. The new trailer sees giant dragons ruling the sky and two rival clans coming together to wage a war against the humans.
